"Vala" shirt
Description

The "Vala" shirt is a replica of an old shirt from Latvian folklore, which stands out for its simplicity and minimalism. 

It features, like the original, refined, and solid finishings: French seams and dart yokes at the top of the slit on each side.


The amigaut collar is closed with small mother-of-pearl buttons, which makes it different from the original shirt. Indeed, it was formerly closed only with a fibula or a pin, to prevent the wringing, carried out with a wooden bat against a stone, from breaking the buttons... Because our modern washing machines are much gentler on our clothes, we decided to use more modern buttons for a practical aspect.

However, you can wear it with your favorite brooch, as suggested in the last photo, to echo the Latvian folk costume.

Chloé is 165 cm (5'5") tall, and wears size S/M. Her measurements are 91 cm (36") bust, 69 cm (27") waist, and 101 cm (40") hips.

Elvira (blonde model) is 170 cm (5'6") tall, and wears size S/M. Her measurements are 91 cm (35.8") bust, 66 cm (25.9") waist, and 90 cm (35.4") hips.

This piece is made in India, where we've worked with the same workshop for almost 10 years. India is the birthplace of cotton and home to over 500 embroidery techniques, some of the world's oldest. We chose to produce here not for cost, but for unmatched expertise in handwork and natural materials.

Our workshop has deep knowledge of traditional embroidery and garment construction. Together, we explore both European folk patterns and Indian craft techniques, mixing traditions to create something new. It's a collaboration we're proud of.

All production meets rigorous standards: BSCI for social ethics, OEKO-TEX® for textile safety, and full transparency throughout the supply chain.
