“Mirela” Black Cotton Dress with Velvet Appliqué
Description

Our longtime gothic roots are really showing in the “Mirela” dress. Still folk-inspired, but not tied to any specific culture, this dress took all of our personal inspirations and whisked them into a brand new shape that eventually became the “Mirela” dress.

This blend of influences has also drawn heavily from our fascination with paper cutting techniques, illustrated here with velvet appliqué. This has already led to the creation of other pieces like the “Gisela” dresses and corsets, as well as all of the jewelry pieces in the “Primula” series.

Coming back to the “Mirela” dress: it is a long dress, but the hem allows for alternations to its length. The dress can be shortened by a whopping 5 cm so it sits right where it should on your body. And yes, you can alter it without altering the design. That’s the beauty of thoughtful construction.

The waist is not completely fitted and can be further cinched to sit tight by using the incorporated side belts.

Please note: This dress is ideal for those with an average bust-to-waistline ratio. Those with a generous bust and a small waistline and might find the fit less accommodating.

Jessica is 1.66 m (5'5") tall, with an 85 cm (33.5") bust, 61 cm (24") waist, and 89 cm (35") hips. She wears a size S.

Machine wash at 30°C. We recommend machine washing rather than hand washing, as modern washing machines can provide a gentler and more consistent wash. Use a medium spin cycle of up to 1000 rpm.

Wash dark colours separately. Iron inside out on a high heat setting with steam.

This piece is made in India, where we've worked with the same workshop for almost 10 years. India is the birthplace of cotton and home to over 500 embroidery techniques, some of the world's oldest. We chose to produce here not for cost, but for unmatched expertise in handwork and natural materials.

Our workshop has deep knowledge of traditional embroidery and garment construction. Together, we explore both European folk patterns and Indian craft techniques, mixing traditions to create something new. It's a collaboration we're proud of.

All production meets rigorous standards: BSCI for social ethics, OEKO-TEX® for textile safety, and full transparency throughout the supply chain.
