"Lavinia" embroidered velvet cape ceramic

Description

For nights when frost turns to silver, the Lavinia cape in its cream shade wraps the body in presence and softened strength. Crafted from cotton velvet and fully lined with 100% cotton, it offers warmth and comfort while preserving a light, fluid drape. A fur trim traces the edges, bringing a gentle sense of wild elegance to the silhouette.

Its generous hood falls protectively around the head, while the sides and back are adorned with embroidered Hungarian deer motifs, symbols of endurance, grace, and ancestral lore. The flowing cut moves freely with the body, offering both protection and ease throughout the colder season.

The shade Ceramic leans toward a warm, creamy tone rather than a stark white, lending the cape a natural depth and softness that enhances its timeless, old-world character.

Designed for layered winter wear, the Lavinia cape balances poetry and practicality, an enduring piece meant to accompany quiet evenings, winter rituals, and everyday journeys alike.

We searched extensively for a wool or plant-based faux fur to replace the recycled polyester trim used on earlier versions. Despite reaching out to multiple suppliers across Europe and Asia, we were unable to find a viable natural alternative at our scale. This final batch will therefore use the original faux fur trim. We wanted to be transparent about this, and remain committed to finding a solution for future versions. Our research has, however, led us to discover a beautiful wool and mohair faux fur that we look forward to incorporating into future designs.

Every stitch follows an artisan’s beat. To honour this rhythm and ensure ethical working conditions, we produce in small batches and do not offer custom orders. This approach allows each piece to be made with care and intention, reflecting the excellence of our Parisian pattern-making, which is both versatile and thoughtfully designed.

We’re always happy to help with fitting advice or simple alteration tips – better choices mean fewer returns and less environmental impact. Let’s spare unnecessary CO₂ emissions together..

This piece is made in India, where we've worked with the same workshop for almost 10 years. India is the birthplace of cotton and home to over 500 embroidery techniques, some of the world's oldest. We chose to produce here not for cost, but for unmatched expertise in handwork and natural materials.

Our workshop has deep knowledge of traditional embroidery and garment construction. Together, we explore both European folk patterns and Indian craft techniques, mixing traditions to create something new. It's a collaboration we're proud of.

All production meets rigorous standards: BSCI for social ethics, OEKO-TEX® for textile safety, and full transparency throughout the supply chain.
