"Denesz" embroidered cotton vest weathered black
Description

"Lóra termett a magyar” - the Hungarian was born to ride.

A nomadic people, the Magyars travelled on horseback across the great plains of Central Asia before settling in the Carpathian Basin. The horse was not simply a means of transport. It was a companion, a symbol of freedom, of belonging to the open land. It never left Hungarian folk art.
 

This small cotton vest carries that emblem, rendered in an unexpected language. 

As with most of our embroidered pieces, this vest is made in India. We enjoyed playing with the blend of styles and traditions, to create a piece that tells a new story.

The embroidery is Dori work, an Indian technique from Rajasthan and Gujarat, in which twisted cords are applied and stitched onto fabric to create raised, textured patterns traditionally reserved for ceremonial and ornamental garments.

Here, on a weathered black background, it works in near silence: black on black, the motif emerging more as texture than color, tactile as much as visible.


Marine is 1m72 (5'8") and wears size XS/S. She measures 85cm / 33.5" bust, 65cm / 25.5" waist and 95cm / 37.5" hips.

This piece is made in India, where we've worked with the same workshop for almost 10 years. India is the birthplace of cotton and home to over 500 embroidery techniques, some of the world's oldest. We chose to produce here not for cost, but for unmatched expertise in handwork and natural materials.

Our workshop has deep knowledge of traditional embroidery and garment construction. Together, we explore both European folk patterns and Indian craft techniques, mixing traditions to create something new. It's a collaboration we're proud of.

All production meets rigorous standards: BSCI for social ethics, OEKO-TEX® for textile safety, and full transparency throughout the supply chain.
