"Vala" shirt
Description

Inspiration for the “Vala” blouse hails all the way from the folk language of the Baltics, revealing a silhouette that merges incredible simplicity with tender romanticism.

The blouse’s most distinctive feature, the amigaut collar, can be closed with the help of two small mother-of-pearl buttons. Blouses of this cut once closed with a fibula or a pin - that was because one needed to have the fabric free of solid fastenings in order to properly wring after washing, a task once carried out by hand with a wooden bat against a stone. Modern washing machines have long made that step unnecessary, and so it was only fitting that the fibula gave way to a couple of buttons instead.

For ease of movement, the blouse also features underarm gussets and side slits.

Speaking of fit, please note: Those will a larger chest may find the “Valeska” blouse more accommodating. Both blouses share the same Baltic roots with a romantic touch.

Chloé is 165 cm (5'5") tall, and wears size S/M. Her measurements are 91 cm (36") bust, 69 cm (27") waist, and 101 cm (40") hips.

Elvira (blonde model) is 170 cm (5'6") tall, and wears size S/M. Her measurements are 91 cm (35.8") bust, 66 cm (25.9") waist, and 90 cm (35.4") hips.

This piece is made in India, where we've worked with the same workshop for almost 10 years. India is the birthplace of cotton and home to over 500 embroidery techniques, some of the world's oldest. We chose to produce here not for cost, but for unmatched expertise in handwork and natural materials.

Our workshop has deep knowledge of traditional embroidery and garment construction. Together, we explore both European folk patterns and Indian craft techniques, mixing traditions to create something new. It's a collaboration we're proud of.

All production meets rigorous standards: BSCI for social ethics, OEKO-TEX® for textile safety, and full transparency throughout the supply chain.
