Designing with Care, Making with Respect

At Voriagh, every garment and piece of jewellery begins in our family workshop on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest.

It's just the three of us, Vivien, Olivia and Bruna, working together in a space that's shaped not just our collections, but our entire approach to making things. Bruna develops most of our samples and prototypes right here, taking the time needed to get the proportions, techniques and details just right before we even think about production.

Research before decoration

When Vivien designs our embroidery motifs, she spends weeks, sometimes months, researching their origins and meanings. She studies the ethnographic and cultural contexts of traditional patterns because we never want to use symbols without understanding what they represent.

This matters deeply to us. We draw inspiration from folk cultures, but we won't copy sacred symbols or strip them of their meaning. Respecting the origins of these patterns isn't about following trends, it's simply the right thing to do.

Natural materials, deliberately chosen

We've made a commitment to work only with 100% natural fabrics. You'll find nothing but cotton, linen and wool in our collections. Materials that breathe, last and have a lighter environmental footprint than synthetics.

These are fabrics that age beautifully. They can be mended, refreshed and worn for years. We believe your clothes should grow with you, not end up discarded after a single season.

Our small circle of makers

We work with three workshops, one in India, one in Lithuania and one in Mauritius. These aren't anonymous factories. They're partners we've built relationships with over the years, each chosen for their specific expertise.

India is where our cotton comes from. The region's ancient textile traditions and embroidery techniques give us endless creative possibilities.

Lithuania brings us linen and heritage weaving methods that have been passed down through generations.

Mauritius handles our knitwear and structured pieces, all produced under carefully audited conditions.

Each workshop sources materials locally when possible, and all hold ethical certifications. These are long-term partnerships built on skill, transparency and shared values.

Why we don't make things to order

Let us explain why.

Many people think making one piece at a time is more sustainable. But for small workshops like the ones we partner with, on-demand production actually creates problems, irregular work schedules, overtime when orders pile up and quiet periods with no income in between.

This kind of instability isn't compatible with the ethical standards we care about. Independent auditors like BSCI and SMETA look at working hours, fair wages, health and safety, and they wouldn't approve of unpredictable production cycles.

Instead, we plan restocks together with our makers. We tell them what we need and they tell us what's realistically possible without rushing. This is why restocks sometimes take a while, because we won't pressure people who deserve to work at a sustainable pace.

European safety standards

As a European brand, we're held to some of the strictest product safety regulations in the world. The new GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation) requires extensive testing to make sure no harmful substances are present in our fabrics, dyes, or finishes.

Every fabric goes through rigorous testing against a long list of regulated chemicals. To ensure full compliance, our manufacturers sometimes weave fabrics from scratch for us, giving us complete control over what goes into every piece.

Why certifications matter to us

We know our partners well, we've worked with them for years and we trust them. But even with trust, you can't see everything.

That's why we rely on independent audits from organizations like SMETA and BSCI. They verify working conditions, environmental practices and ethical standards objectively and regularly. These certifications aren't marketing badges for us, they're essential safeguards.

At Voriagh, we believe real responsibility means combining close human relationships with independent verification. Both matter.
